We hear a number of comments from clients regarding their millennial workforce, defined as those born between 1980 – 2000, who are now a common fixture in many work places. It is expected that by 2020 half the US working population will be in this group and by 2025 could be as high as 75%. We would expect this to be much higher in IT and tech sectors.

As such companies have to adapt in order to attract the top millennials, a promise of a job for life and pension plan will not cut it. We often hear that millennials have a poor work ethic, a sense of entitlement, a desire for instant gratification or recognition for turning up on Monday after a long weekend.

In order for companies to continue to grow they will need to understand how to work in harmony with this growing segment of the labour market.
